We are proud to share that The TMS PTA was awarded the national school of excellence designation in August 2023! Thank you to the students, staff and parents for your partnership.

thurston PTA programs
We organize dozens of programs and activities to benefit students, families and Thurston staff. Here are a couple.
Visit our PROGRAMS page to learn about ALL the programs we support.
PTA helps Connect to staff.
Thurston PTA plans and provides a welcome back lunch in August, three potluck breakfasts over the year and a week of treats for national Teacher/Staff Appreciation week in May. A wonderful way to thanks to our hardworking staff!
PTA supports positive behavior.
Thurston PTA supports the student-run "Student Store". Students earn Live School points for positive behavior and shop the store at select lunches. PTA helps purchase swag (TMS hoodies, shades etc.) and drum up local goods like gift cards and surf wax.
PTA creates social opportunites.
Nerf war? 8th grade dance? Movie night? Game-a-thon? Beach meet up? New this year, Thurston PTA wants to plan a special social for each grade level. Volunteer to bring your creative ideas to help our students make positive social connections.

2024-25 pta goals
At the end of each school year, PTA surveys families to develop new goals for the following year. If you have ideas in these areas, reach out!
Goal 1: Continue supporting Thurston programs that drive a positive school culture.
(In 23-24, PTA engaged the ASB and Student advocate to the PTA how best to support their needs.)
Goal 2: Provide PTA programs with social opportunities for students in the beginning, middle and end of the year.
(Fall Movie Night, Winter Fest, 6th/7th Grade Dances, 8th Grade Dance, End of Year Ice Cream Social)
Goal 3: Provide students the opportunity to participate in competitive school-based sports teams.
(In 23-24, PTA held pep rallies with spirit activities and food trucks for the new TMS Sports program.).
Goal 4: Increase new family outreach and family engagement for middle school parents.
(In 23-24, PTA held five association meetings to help plan programs, connect parents with school leaders, and engage parents in volunteer opportunities.)
PTA is for everyone. Not just moms.
Help us add more voices to the work of PTA. We invite moms, dads, grandparents and community members to join Thurston PTA.
It's time to invite the men in your children’s lives to get involved! More engaged fathers and father figures can help foster a child’s healthy physical, emotional and social development.
